Don’t panic….this is a book title 😉
I love to read – fiction/non-fiction…I’m not fussy as long as it’s well written. Today’s blog is a bit different – it’s a review of a great book I’ve read recently. I have some exciting plans coming up re books & flicks, but I don’t want to let the cat out of the bag just yet…watch this space!
I happened upon The Kind Worth Killing by Peter Swanson quite by chance. I have having a yarn to the delightful Amanda (Dymocks Rundle Mall) when I mentioned my love of thrillers….and she recommended this book. As an ex ‘road warrior’ I loved the premise of never knowing who you might meet in an airport lounge.
This is the story of a chance encounter at a lounge bar over a handful of martinis. The 2 strangers hatch a plot to murder the bloke’s gold digger/cheating wife…just like that….delicious!!
Each chapter is written in the first person and it alternates between the major characters. This style suited the plot perfectly and you really get a feel for the characters’ personalities/motivations etc. It was a page turner and kept me reading well into the night.
Part of the book is set in and around Kennewick Maine which is now on my travel bucket list. I found myself googling it and it’s stunning; a little bit of drool may have come out.
I did find the ‘twists and turns’ a smidge predictable….but only because I read a lot of this genre. I leant the book to my sister and she had many O.M.G moments.
I loved this book. It was a great read and a solid 8.5/10. If you love the genre, definitely check it out.
I am always looking to discover new crime/thriller authors. I also love Kate White and Lisa Gardner. If you have a favourite, please suggest one in the comments below 🙂
Until next time….
